Katie’s editing experience spans many genres, from briefs and reports to contracts to e-learning materials.
Always focused on the reader, she loves enlivening texts with solid document design, meaningful graphics and clear, succinct expression.
Her Getting to the point® editing clients include several government agencies in New South Wales, such as the Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Ministry of Health and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
But her work has also spanned the country with clients like the federal Department of Human Services, the National Transport Commission and the National Archives of Australia.
Before joining the Foundation, Katie was a development editor at an educational publisher. She worked on textbooks and online courses for students of nursing, psychology, education and sociology.
Katie is on the judging panel for WriteMark's 2017 Plain English Awards, and will be judging entries in the People's Choice categories of Best Plain English Communication and Worst Brainstrain Communication. She also judged these categories in 2015.
When she is not editing, Katie oversees the Foundation’s website.
Katie is a member of PLAIN and keeps up with the latest developments in plain language. She also attends Editors NSW events.
