Michael is a communication and learning expert with over 18 years’ experience training adults in professional development and higher education settings. He’s passionate about plain language because he believes that complex ideas don’t need complex language. For Michael, clear communication isn’t a stylistic choice – it’s the only choice if you want readers to understand, trust you and make informed decisions.  

Since joining our team, Michael has trained public and private-sector clients such as Blacktown City Council, NSW Health and RMCG. Participants appreciate his deep knowledge of linguistics and his practical, learner-centred approach.  

Before joining the foundation, Michael was a senior teacher and learning facilitator at Torrens University Language Centre. He taught, designed learning programs and helped develop curriculums. Michael is still learning about learning while pursuing his PhD, which explores the role of large language models in language learning. He’s especially interested in how AI supports learner autonomy and mediates the learning process.
