Rupert has over 20 years’ experience in the English language industry and has worked across Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

After qualifying as an English language teacher, Rupert ran language school operations in Seoul, Nairobi, Vancouver, London and Shanghai.

He then specialised in education marketing and recruitment that included managing programs for international universities.

After working with the world’s largest English language and higher education providers, he founded an education leadership advisory service.

Rupert has presented papers on language, including on English language proficiency standards.

He has an enduring passion for language and clear communication, especially in cross-cultural contexts. His focus is always on ensuring that learning outcomes enhance personal and professional skills.

Rupert is a self-confessed word-nerd.

He is a regular presenter at conferences on topics ranging from the effects of COVID-19 on language providers to the International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP).

He stays up-to-date with the latest developments on clear language through the Plain Language Association International (PLAIN).
