Raising the standard
Our conference has three streams.
1. Raising industry standards
Some of the biggest names in plain language will present special industry seminars for professionals in government, corporate and finance, the law, and health and community services.
2. Raising practitioner standards
We will run workshops, panels and seminars for plain language practitioners wanting to learn more about their field, improve their skills and strengthen their professional network.
3. Developing the profession
We will showcase the International Plain Language Working Group's options paper on developing the profession through sessions on standards, accreditation and training, and an international body.
Plain Language Association InterNational (PLAIN)
Raising the standard is PLAIN’s seventh international biennial conference.
PLAIN is a growing, volunteer nonprofit organisation of plain-language advocates, professionals and organisations committed to plain language. It is for professionals who plan, write, design and create communications projects to better serve the needs of the public, clients, customers, students and staff.
Formed in 1993 as the Plain Language Network, members include Canada, USA, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, Africa, the UK, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands.
