International collaboration
Plain English Foundation maintains close partnerships with the international plain language community. Our executive director Dr Neil James is vice president of Plain Language Association InterNational (PLAIN) and has been the chair of the International Plain Language Working Group since it was established in 2008.
Plain English Foundation takes part in the biannual Clarity and PLAIN conferences, and hosted the 2009 PLAIN conference in Sydney.
In 2012, Neil James is delivering the keynote address for the Language Council of Norway (Spakradet). We are also participating in judging the Clearmark Awards for the Centre for Plain Language in the USA.
As part of our sponsorship of like-minded organisations, Plain English Foundation has proudly supported New Zealand's Writemark Awards since 2007. Our representatives join other plain language experts and advocates to judge the winners in categories such as best organisation, best project and best document. In 2011 we judged the Best Plain English Sentence Transformation Award.
