Legal clarity achieved by the Law Reform Commission of Victoria

When the Law Reform Commission of Victoria published a study called Plain English and the Law, it redesigned and rewrote a court summons in plain legal language. The new summons meant the government saved both staff resources and money by:

  • allowing 26 staff to be reassigned to other areas
  • saving around $400, 000 a year in salaries.
